The result is a very reliable, rugged focus system that feels like a CAM-driven focus ring, even on lenses with weighty optical blocks such as Helios 40-2 and Tair-11A. With MKII, we started from scratch! Every element of mechanics and MKI body was changed to achieve the next level of performance, precision, and reliability! The new design now has the universal position of gears across the set, an easily shimmable PL / EF mount system (with more mount options to come), T-stop markings, Reverse Direction Focus Scale, a 15 aperture blade iris for every lens and much more!Īt the heart of it all, we now have what we call a “hybrid focus system”, which is a combination of a new & refined helicoid combined with technology generally found in CAM-driven focus systems. Production times: Due to the size of the Zeiss Jena series, some of the lenses are likely to be ready before the others, therefore we will begin shipping individual lenses as soon as they are ready, but our aim is to have most lenses ready and shipped within 12 months. We can also source the actual optics for an additional cost. If you don’t own the Zeiss Jena lenses yet, you have up to 6-8 months to source donor optics. Pricing Info: The retail price for the Carl Zeiss Jena Rehousing will be $3000 per lens with the customer’s donor optics, but all the orders made during the pre-order phase will benefit from a discounted price of $2750 per lens when providing their own optics. Please see the full selection in the description below. Our Carl Zeiss Jena rehousing project starts with 12 MC series focal lengths and will be followed by the Zebra series at the beginning of 2024. Our meticulous attention to detail will ensure that these rehoused lenses will meet the high expectations set by our MKII series and even exceed them. With the Carl Zeiss Jena lenses, we are committed to maintaining the legendary qualities that have made these optics timeless while introducing modern advancements that align with the demands of today’s film industry. In addition to the video, which provides all the steps, Blankenship details a few notable points and a list of the required tools in a related blog post.We are excited to announce the commencement of public pre-orders for the highly anticipated Carl Zeiss Jena rehousing project. As well, DIYers will need oval aperture disks and a lens wrench. The tutorial requires easily acquired components, including sandpaper, metal polish, fishing line, acetone, spray paint, gloves, and cotton pads. According to Blankenship, Shutterstock's new tutorial was inspired by content found on Tito Ferradans' YouTube channel, and it primarily revolves around adding the iconic flat line lens flare and oval-shaped aperture to an inexpensive lens. The 13-minute tutorial is designed to equip budget filmmakers with the cinematic look of anamorphic lenses at a lower price. The DIY anamorphic tutorial features inexpensive lenses sourced from eBay that are taken apart, fully modified, and reassembled. Shutterstock Tutorials, the YouTube channel of stock image company Shutterstock, has published a new video featuring Todd Blankenship with instructions on how to create 'anamorfake' lenses. ![]()
